New Children of Bodom

(30/11/10)

Children Of Bodom have completed work on the follow-up to 2008's Blooddrunk.

The album, which is set for a March 2011 release, will be titled Relentless Reckless Forever.

"We worked super-hard on this album, at least for me it was pretty much no sleep or rest for six weeks," explains frontman Alexi Laiho. "But we were determined to make the best Children Of Bodom album ever, so we were willing to do whatever it took. Of course, having our producer Matt Hyde kicking our asses 24/7 definitely made the results even better, so obviously we're more than anxious to get this album out there"

Lord Filth

(16/11/10)

Cradle Of Filth frontman Dani Filth has revealed he has acquired a title and will now be referred to as Lord Filth.

"I'm looking into what my title allows, whether that's driving a flock of sheep through the town centre on a bank holiday or the keys to every inn and wine cellar in the county," explains Lord Filth. "I've also been looking into a nice new country pile, the parties will be immense, the kind Lord Byron would throw if he had access to some Slayer albums.

"I'm fully expecting it to help get me a better table when I eat out too, especially in the U.S.," he adds. "Ultimately, this is a great opportunity to mess with people's perceptions."

The band's latest album, Darkly Darkly Venus Aversa is out now.

Hoffman brothers return

(16/11/10)

Former Deicide members Eric Hoffmann (guitar) and Brian Hoffman (guitar) have resurrected their pre- Deicide band Amon with Jesse "Jecheal" Jolly ( Promethean Horde , Diabolic , Success Will Write Apocalypse Across The Sky , After Death ) on vocals/bass and and Mike Petrak ( Leprosy , Success Will Write Apocalypse Across The Sky ) on drums. The Florida-based quartet will enter RedRoom Recorders in Tampa on December 10 with producer Mark Prator to begin recording its new album, entitled "Liar In Wait" . The CD will consist of nine songs and will be made available in early 2011 via Amon 's own record label.

When asked how the musical direction of Amon will be different to that of Deicide , Eric Hoffmann told Blabbermouth.Net simply, "The music will speak for itself."

Amon recorded two demos - 1987's "Feasting The Beast" and 1989's "Sacrifical" - before signing with Roadrunner Records and changing its name to Deicide . After producing two extremely successful albums as Deicide , the band chose to make the Amon demos available on CD in 1993 under the title "Amon: Feasting The Beast" .

The Hoffman brothers parted ways with Deicide in 2004 after becoming embroiled in a bitter dispute with Deicide bassist/vocalist Glen Benton over royalties and publishing issues.

Reunion? Well, almost.

(05/11/10)

Kyuss are to reunite next year for a tour – well, most of the influential stoner band anyway.

Under the name of Kyuss Lives, vocalist John Garcia, bassist Nick Oliveri and drummer Brant Bjork will get together in the spring. Missing from the classic Blues For The Red Sun era, though, is guitarist Josh Homme, who'll be replaced by Bruno Fevery.

Almost a World Tour

(05/11/10)

Remember that big Iron Maiden announcement that band was teasing fans about? Turns out it was bigger than some speculated. Here you go!

Iron Maiden, with their crew and many tons of equipment, will once again be boarding Ed Force One in February 2011 to fly 50,000 miles round the globe on their continuing mammoth Final Frontier World Tour, playing 29 shows and visiting 26 cities in thirteen countries across 5 continents with Bruce again in the pilot's seat, and heading into more new Frontiers of uncharted Maiden territory!!!

The first show will be on Feb 11th in Moscow's Olympic Stadium, after which the Boeing 757, which will have new designs to tie in with the new album and tour, will fly the band to Singapore and Indonesia for Maiden's first ever shows there, before arriving in Australia to headline two arena dates and five Soundwave Festivals. Ed Force One then turns its attention briefly to the Northern Hemisphere with a first show ever in South Korea and two shows in Tokyo, before heading all the way across the Pacific, a journey which (believe it or not!) is 6660 miles for two shows in Mexico. An extensive series of stadium shows through five South American countries follows, including a first visit to Belem, Northern Brazil, and, via Puerto Rico, the band will play the final show on this leg of the tour in Tampa, Florida, USA on April 17th, exactly 66 days after Moscow!

No mention of NZ!

Endgame was not the End!

(02/11/10)

Megadeth drummer Shawn Drover recently gave online publication Crypt Magazine the scoop on the band's new album, and the word is: It's coming soon!

"Right now we're in tour mode, but we're starting to discuss our game plan for next year, and I envision next year we'll be recording a new record," Drover said. "So there's no end in sight as far as we're concerned. We're just going to keep rolling, and things are going really well for us right now, and we're just seizing every opportunity that we can."

Also asked about Megadeth's mega-successful European jaunt on The Big Four tour with Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax this past summer, Drover said there's hope for more tour dates with the metal powerhouses. "Once we did [the Big Four Tour] in Europe, now everyone around the world's screaming for it," Drover said. "So hopefully we'll be able to do it next year, or whenever that's going to be. But right now, we really don't know. You know, there's talk, you hear things, people say things, but until it actually presents itself … We're all really hopeful that it will. We'll see what happens with it."

Maiden a Lounge

(27/10/10)

Ever wondered what Iron Maiden would sound like as a lounge band? Well here you go. This is brilliant. A proper studio mix, put to the vid from the Flight 666 DVD. And yes, Bruce is still on vocals!
