TODAY'S SHOW:

Jim Morrison Gets A Posthumous Pardon For "Indecent Exposure" Conviction

Better late than never!

On March 1, 1969, Jim Morrison was alive and well, performing a concert in front of his adoring fans in Miami. That evening, he reportedly dropped his pants, giving the crowd a very personal view and the stunt landed him in prison for six months. Before he died, he was attempting to appeal the conviction, as he had proof that he never actually exposed himself to his fans. Sadly, he never got the chance to defend himself.

Fast forward to 2007, when a huge Doors fan approached Gov. Charlie Crist and insisted that the case be reopened so that Jim could be pardoned. Fast forward to today, as the pardon has finally come to pass.

After several years and the reassurance of the surviving band members that it didn't happen, Gov. Crist, along with two other members, granted the pardon.

Wow. Guess we're just going to ignore the 100 or so pictures of evidence? Okay, cool!

Lee hits out at bizarre Seaworld breeding practice

Rocker Tommy Lee has fired off a bizarre letter to the boss of SeaWorld in Florida, demanding he release a whale in captivity and stop using the mammal as a "sperm bank".

The orca in question hit the headlines in February after it killed it's whale trainer during a show at the city's SeaWorld complex. Celebrities including Matt Damon and Lee's ex-wife Pamela Anderson spoke out after the tragedy, urging the venues to be shut down and the killer whales released from the tourist attractions.

And animal-loving Tommy Lee has given his backing to the ongoing campaign, teaming up with officials from PETA to condemn the odd way park keepers reportedly extract semen from the whales to keep their breeding program up and running.  In the letter Tommy Lee brands the alleged practice "sick and twisted", writing, "After learning about the bizarre way you breed killer whales, my friends at PETA and I are stumped about SeaWorld's announcement that no people will ever again have direct contact with the orca who has killed three people including his trainer this year".

"We understand that you refuse to release this frustrated whale because he is your chief sperm bank, and we know from SeaWorld's own director of safety... that the way you get his sperm is by having someone get into the pool and masturbate him with a cow's vagina filled with hot water".

"Even during my wildest days with Motley Crue, I never could've imagined something so sick and twisted... I hope it doesn't take another tragic death for SeaWorld to realise it shouldn't frustrate these smart animals by keeping them in tanks."

Geezer Butler: No Black Sabbath in 2011

The past year has had plenty of will-they-won't-they moments for fans of the original Black Sabbath lineup. Nearly every member of the band professed a desire to reunite the legendary hard rock band in the near future. But with Ozzy Osbourne embarking on a lengthy tour with his new guitarist bassist Geezer Butler says fans will have to wait.

“I have no idea what's happening with that,” Butler says. “It's not going to happen next year. Ozzy's on tour with his own band for the next year or whatever. The idea of doing another Sabbath tour always comes up. It's just something that's always talked about and there if we want to do it. It's sort of really early days, though. I'm sure Ozzy will say ‘yes' and ‘no' every week for the next year while he's on tour. It's one thing to want to do something like that just before you go out to tour a record. You say, ‘Oh yeah, I'm gonna tour for the next five years.' And then six weeks into it, you can't wait to get home. So we'll just see how he feels when he finishes his Ozzy Osbourne tour.”

Butler also dispelled any hopes for “lost” Heaven & Hell material to be released after the death of singer Ronnie James Dio.

“There is no more stuff. That's it. We've never had leftover material ever. That's how we got back together when they wanted to put out [the Black Sabbath compilation] The Dio Years. They wanted some extra tracks to put on it, and we didn't have any, because whatever we do we put out. That's why we got together to do the three extra tracks on the compilation. And it went so well, we went from there and toured and did another album. We were having a great time. We never imagined that we wouldn't have the chance to do more.”

YESTERDAY'S SHOW:

Anthrax Almost Finished with New Album

Thrash legends Anthrax are nearly done recording their new album, the band's first since 2003's We've Come For You All. Tentatively titled Worship Music, it will be the first Anthrax album with frontman Joey Belladonna since 1990. It's the group's ninth studio album overall.

“We're almost ready to go,” guitarist Scott Ian told Artisan News Service. “Eight things are recorded and we've only got to go back and re-record two or three things. And Joey's singing on all of it.”

Belladonna is the second guy to provide vocals for Worship Music. Former Anthrax singer Dan Nelson originally did work on the album. The release should be out next year and reportedly includes covers of Alice in Chains' “We Die Young” and Refused's “New Noise,” according to NME.com.

Dave Grohl Teams Up with Michael Jackson

Dave Grohl is one of many music superstars who are appearing on Michael Jackson's posthumous album, simply titled Michael. The songs were taken from recording sessions that Jackson had begun before his 2009 death.

The current Foo Fighter, former Nirvana member drums on “(I Can't Make it) Another Day,” which also features Lenny Kravitz on guitar, according to Musicweek.com. Other guests on the album include Akon and 50 Cent.

Although most of the songs date from sessions that occurred in the last year of King of Pop's life, the closing song comes from an earlier period. “Much Too Soon” was written around the same time as Thriller classics such as “Beat It” and “Billie Jean,” although it was never used.

Michael will be released next week.

James Hetfield: Metallica has Become Family-Friendly

James Hetfield says that Metallica's concerts have been toned down a little bit since he became a father. He says that he and his band have even stopped performing their obscenity-laden version of the Anti-Nowhere League's “So What,” because he doesn't want his two daughters and one son to think it's all right to use that sort of language. Hetfield's kids are 12-year-old Cali, 10-year-old Castor and eight-year-old Marcella. He has been married to his wife Francesca for 13 years.

“Since I've had kids the show's become more family-friendly as far as the language goes,” he said. “We haven't played ‘So What' in a while – there are too many words that just ain't right. My son's heard them all, but I don't need to promote them.”

Hetfield also discussed what his son has been getting into, musically.  “Now and then I get an e-mail from iTunes saying, ‘Here's what your son bought.' He loves The Ramones, AC/DC, the Red Hot Chili Peppers right now,” Hetfield said. “He buys some Metallica stuff... He actually bought them. I'm like, ‘Dude, how are you going to pay for these?'”
