Good News!

(07/09/10)

Metallica are refusing to let New Zealand's recent earthquakes stop them from performing for fans there.

Devotees feared three big quakes over the past five days, including a 7.1-magnitude one that hit the country's South Island, would prompt Metallica to postpone two sold-out shows set for Christchurch later this month.

But the band insists the shows at the CBS Canterbury Arena - close to the epicentre of the earthquakes - will go ahead as planned on September 21 and 22. Fear Factory to open.

Engineers are currently assessing the 9,000-capacity venue for damage, but bosses insist it doesn't appear the arena has been damaged at all.

Let The Guilt Go

Axl gets bottled off the stage

(04/09/10)

The crowd are not amused as the band do not appear on stage until approx 10.25pm. No interaction or apology by Axl to the crowd who are booing etc.. Bottles are thrown on stage during the start of Welcome To The Jungle. Axl tells the crowd to stop throwing bottles at him or they'll leave. The show goes on for another couple of songs before more bottles are thrown at Axl & he just up's & leaves. The Promoters / Venue staff make announecements to the crowd about trying to fix technical difficulties at first (yeah right!) & then tell people they're working to get the band back & ask the crowd to stop throwing things at Axl. The crowd were told another annoucment would be forthcoming but after 10-15 mins, the house lights just came on & crowds started to leave after O2 staff were telling the crowd it was over & to contact MCD for a refund... I was one fo the crowd who had waited for ages & after been told it was over & the band were not coming back on & to seek my refund from MCD, I heard the band came back on at approx 11.30pm but we weren't allowed back into the venue.

Serj Tankian's 'Left of Centre'

(03/09/10)

Check out the vid for Serj's new single, "Left of Centre". It's a bit crazy, but hell, so is he! The song is on his upcoming album, "Imperfect Harmonies", available September 20th.

The Human Centipede (R18)

(01/09/10)

A new horror flick on the way... there are calls to have it banned in NZ! It's due to a certain surgical procedure form a crazy doctor... You'll see!

Oops...

(31/08/10)

First Steven Tyler and now Scott Weiland .

The Stone Temple Pilots frontman took a header off the stage last night in Cincinnati, during the band's opening number, “Crackerman.”

Unlike Stevn Tyler, Weiland didn't miss a beat or a line, continuing to sing while in the pit; he finally reappeared on stage almost a full minute later.

Sparticus Blood & Sand

(27/08/10)

Have you seen Sparticus Blood and Sand yet? It's on The Box on Sunday nights so you need sky, which I don't have, but Mark Eagle is my little slave and he's putting the series on disc for me hahaha. Saves me a few bucks! If you saw it, you'll know it's decent. I wouldn't be too worried about coming into the series part way through either. Who cares about the story line, you'll fill in the gaps eventually, and reality it's all about the brutal battle scenes and orgies eh? Check out the trailer to see what you're missing.

U2 coming back to NZ!

(23/08/10)

U2 will kick off the Down Under leg of the U2 360 Tour at Auckland's Mt Smart Stadium on November 25.

It is the fifth time they have visited this country.

Tickets for the Mt Smart gig will go on sale on September 3, with general admission prices starting from $39.90.    And a second show is already rumoured!

Construction has begun on a temporary stand for fans at the home of the Warriors league team.

Following the show in Auckland, the band will travel to Australia for gigs in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and Perth.

The radical stage set-up used for the U2 360 Tour will vastly increase stadium capacities.

"U2 has always been at their best when surrounded by their audience, and this extraordinary production makes that happen in stadiums," U2's manager Paul McGuinness said.

The U2 360 Tour kicked off again in Turin, Italy, this month.

By the time it reaches New Zealand and Australia, U2 360 will have been seen by more than 4 million fans.

Lingerie Football

(19/08/10)

Do you remember a while back when I was featuring alternative sports and I told you about lingerie football? Yes with chicks, although I'm sure there's some weirdo dude somewhere playing their own version. Scary. Well good news. The sexy chicky version is now going to hit MTV2 in the States, and rumour has it we may get it on MTV in NZ. You'll need Sky of course but hell, if Sky gets a few more good shows along this line. I'd sure consider renewing my subscription! "What are you watching hun? "Just a bit of sport" heh heh heh

The Reunion has virtually happened!

(19/08/10)

DJ 5agge has combined Axl Rose's vocals from Chinese Democracy with tracks from Velvet Revolver (featuring Slash, Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum and Dave Kushner) and Slash's new solo album.

The mashups contain elements of Axl Rose's vocals from "Prostitute," "Chinese Democracy," "If the World," "There Was a Time," "Scraped," and "Madagascar," as well as audio from Axl Rose's performance as DJ Tommy "The Nightmare" Smith from the video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

The instrumentation comes from Slash's "Beautiful Dangerous," and Velvet Revolver's "Slither" & "Messages," (an iTunes bonus track from the band's much-maligned 2007 release Libertad ).

All 4 songs sound killer - Axl's voice and Slash's guitar complement each other perfectly. You can tell by these remixes that a new album from Axl and Slash would totally rock and would beat anything either has done post 1993.

Axl and Slash may never reunite, but this EP is the next best thing.
