New Zealand Record Voted Album of The Decade in Finland

Photo - Ann Kermans New Zealand Te Reo Metal album Tū by Alien Weaponry has been voted the number one album of the decade by readers of Finnish music publication Tuonela Magazine. The band’s debut album has been widely acclaimed worldwide, having also made album of the decade lists in the UK and America, but the band are surprised to have reached the number one spot in Finland – ahead of European groups Nightwish, Ghost and Gojira and American metal giants Metallica. “We knew we had a bit of a following in Scandinavia, but this is insane,” says Alien Weaponry drummer Henry de Jong. The band, who sing many of their songs in Te Reo Māori, made headlines around the world earlier this year when

Steven Tyler thanks Aerosmith for his sobriety.

Aerosmith will be honored next year by MusiCares, the Grammy-related organization that helps musicians in need of assistance during financial, medical and personal instances. For Steven Tyler, he knows the benefits of receiving help when things start a downward spiral, but it wasn't easy getting there. The vocalist offered a very frank account of his past demons and the effect it had on his band in a chat with Haute Living. Reflecting on those drug-fueled days, he recalls, "Aerosmith made it from '72 to '79 not necessarily stoned, but beautiful ... then we all became very fucked up. There were no such things as rehabs; there were mental institutions. I went away in '84 and '86, and I didn’t

Fourth Jackass Movie due 2021!

The cinematic gods have spoken - we're getting a new Jackass movie in 2021, as confirmed by Paramount Studios. This'll be the fourth film in the franchise. The only details we have so far, according to Deadline, are that the upcoming movie will be out March 5, 2021, as a continuation in the series from 2010's Jackass 3D. Sadly, it'll be the first one without Ryan Dunn after his sudden death in 2011. Despite doubts that another project would come from the cast, Jackass star Steve-O told Loudwire himself back in July that the fourth movie would happen once co-star Johnny Knoxville was ready to dedicate himself to it. “The Jackass 4 question … I just felt that Knoxville, for some reason, just w

Check out Metal cats!

God bless cats. They’ve been providing the Internet with unwitting entertainment ever since there was an Internet. But doubly God bless Frank Injection for tipping us off to the existence of the @cats_are_metal Instagram account, which combines both of those obsessions into one and is exactly what it sounds like - photos of cats with assorted metal paraphernalia. The best, by far, are those of cats wearing metal battle vests… because CATS WEARING BACKPATCHES! A cuter thing has never existed! You’re welcome! Source: MetalSucks

Rock+Metal bands that reunited in this decade.

If there's anything we've learned from rock history, it's that it's very difficult to keep a band together. We've seen huge feuds, lineup changes and breaks. Whatever the case may be, the last decade saw a lot of band reunions in the rock and metal world. Guns N' Roses were one of the biggest, considering the beef between Axl Rose and Slash seemed it would never dissipate. Their reunion tour, which also included bassist Duff McKagan and sporadic appearances from drummer Steven Adler, would last three years, and gross over $580 million. Black Sabbath Black Sabbath having existed for five decades, have disbanded several times throughout their career, both with Ozzy Osbourne and Ronnie James Di

14 Corey Taylor vs. everyone moments

Corey Taylor is one of the most entertaining musicians in rock and metal history, especially when he’s speaking his mind. So we put together this list of moments from when the Great Big Mouth used his vocal cords for non-musical destruction. The Slipknot / Stone Sour singer has verbally squared off with more than a few of his contemporaries. One can’t help but recall Corey’s feud with Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger, who had claimed Stone Sour were trying to be Nickelback. Corey didn’t hold back with this one, claiming Kroeger had a face like a foot and slamming him for being voted Ugliest Dude in Rock. The mantra of We Are Not Your Kind has rung true in many of Taylor’s interviews, especially whe

Watch Cyndi Lauper duet with Marilyn Manson at charity event.

On Tuesday, December 10th, Cyndi Lauper threw her annual Home for the Holidays benefit gig at Los Angeles' the Novo, and she brought out a host of big names for event, including Marilyn Manson and Henry Rollins, who jumped onstage with the Eighties star for two surprising duets. Sporting a gaudy yellow mohawk, Lauper teamed with Manson for a raw, shambolic run-through of the latter's Antichrist Superstar hit "The Beautiful People," which the shock rocker intro'd with a menacing rendition of "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun." In addition to Rollins and Manson, Kesha, Jane's Addiction's Perry Farrell, Belinda Carlisle of the Go-Go's, King Princess, Brandi Carlile, Billy Porter, Lily Tomlin, songwrit

Hear insane Marilyn Manson-Mariah Carey mashup "All I want for Christmas is The Beautiful Peopl

Master mashup artist Bill McClintock has graced heavy-music fans with the gift we didn't know we wanted: a blending of Mariah Carey's irresistible holiday classic "All I Want for Christmas" with Marilyn Manson's Nineties chant-along "The Beautiful People" for a strange, deliciously catchy and all-out-fun new cut. The saccharine edge of Carey's original is tamped down by the aggression of Manson's hit, meaning even those with the biggest aversion to Christmas tunes will find themselves nodding along to this wild concoction. "I'm gonna have my 6th graders perform it just like this for the concert," McClintock jokes in the caption to his YouTube post. At this point, McClintock has fused too man

Serj Tankian approves of releasing unheard old System of A Down music, continues to diss his band ma

System of a Down are touring together next year… and yet it seems like they have no problem publicly talking shit about each other. Everyone seems to agree that Tankian is the reason the band hasn’t released new music in almost fifteen years. But Tankian, who has all but disowned 2005’s Hypnotize/ Mezmerize set, has consistently made it sound as though he’d like to release another album if that album were up to his creative standards. He has also explicitly accused guitarist Daron Malakian of trying to shut him out of the songwriting process. The general implication of those statements being, “I thought our last albums sucked, and I don’t wanna make anything sucky again, and Daron is pushing

Halestorm breaks barriers for female lead vocalists in rock'n'roll.

As we prepare to enter a new decade that will be abundant with new rock bands, Loudwire wanted to reflect on the last 10 years and praise those who've made a large impact within the rock community. That's why Halestorm have been chosen as Loudwire's Rock Artist of the Decade. Loudwire spoke with frontwoman Lzzy Hale regarding the band's accomplishments so far. "If my 13-year-old self could see me now," Hale says, humbly accepting the title. "This is wild!" Though Halestorm are one of many rock bands led by a woman today, this wasn't always the case. The singer looks back to the start of the decade, admitting that it was difficult to even get radio airplay because it would exceed the station

Chris Cornell's widow sues Soundgarden over royalties.

Chris Cornell’s widow is suing the surviving members of Soundgarden. According to TMZ, Vicky Cornell has filed a lawsuit against the band over the rights to seven unreleased recordings. The suit claims that the band is “withholding hundreds of thousand of dollars in royalties” owed to Cornell, herself and their children who are minors. Vicky Cornell says that the band wants the rights to the material, which she calls an “unlawful attempt to strong-arm Chris’ Estate into turning over certain audio recordings created by Chris before he passed away.” According to documents obtained by TMZ, the seven tracks are “solely authorized by Chris; contain Chris’ own vocal tracks; and were bequeathed to

Five Finger Death Punch - New album marks the bands rebirth.

Five Finger Death Punch’s Zoltan Bathory has spoken about their upcoming album F8 and says it marks the band’s “rebirth.” In a new interview with Billboard, the guitarist has opened up on what the record means for the group. Bathory says “Here we are – everybody's sober, everybody's ready to work and focused. There's a lot to say, a lot to prove. It's like a new band, in a way. It's progressing. It's rebirth. It's transcendent. “When I listen to this album, it's the same sound, the same band, but it isn't. If you really listen to this, it's not the same band… for the better, both musically and lyrically." Back in September, Five Finger Death Punch teased their new single Inside Out, with fro

Tenacious D team with Jack White on hilarious new song.

Jack Black and Jack White, going off names alone, seem like a natural pairing, but up to now the two had not worked together. That all changed though, when Third Man Records pressed a special limited edition 7-inch featuring the Tenacious D/White mashup the world's been waiting on forever, "Don't Blow It, Kage." Falling perfectly in line with the D's hilarious but highly skillful structuring and lyricism, the track focuses on the anxiety of impressing the legendary White, who pops in near the track's end to offer up his moral support. The titular Kage refers to Black's musical partner Kyle Gass, who often plays the bumbling idiot to Black's overly self-assured character of the twosome. Wholl

Evanescence also had to cancel their set, which was to include the first-ever performance of the band's cover of Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain."
