Appetite For Destruction Is Still Rocking Out 30 Years On

July 26, 2017

Guns N Roses celebrated a milestone this past week with Appetite for destruction's 30th birthday.  The Album has gone platinum 8 times over and download wise is second only to Michael Jacksons Thriller.

Only a few short years before their debut album was recorded, the members of the band were living in well-documented druggy squalor, just one among many hard-rock bands looking to get a break on the competitive Los Angeles club scene.

They could not have foreseen the epic impact they would have on the rock world with the release of their debut album.   Even the latest generation are familiar with their music, and this YouTube mini doco is worth a watch.

They rocked New York City last Thursday night in front of an intimate, invite-only crowd at the famous Apollo Theatre in celebration of the 30th anniversary.  According to Rolling Stone, the hard-rock legends played for three hours, showcasing eight of the album’s 12 songs along the way.

The concert was is serving as a warm-up gig for the North American leg of their hugely successful Not in This Lifetime tour, which was in New Zealand at the beginning of the year.  This leg gets underway Thursday, July 27, in St. Louis.

Guns N’ Roses have added 11 dates, which now includes Newark, New Jersey; Washington, D.C.; Hartford, Connecticut; Louisville, Kentucky; Milwaukee; Nashville; and Sacramento and San Diego, California; as well as playing extra dates in New York City, Toronto and Inglewood, California.  November 29 is the tour’s final scheduled show - will they play November Rain last?

Among the artists who will open for Guns N’ Roses at select shows during the trek are ZZ Top, Deftones, Sturgill Simpson, Royal Blood, Live and Our Lady Peace.
