See Matt Cameron and Taylor Momsen perform Soundgarden's "Halfway There".

Soundgarden and Pearl Jam drummer Matt Cameron and the Pretty Reckless singer Taylor Momsen have teamed up for a moving quarantine performance of Soundgarden's "Halfway There," off the group's final album, 2012's King Animal. Released on May 18th which is the third anniversary of Chris Cornell's passing, via TPR's YouTube channel, the video serves as a tribute to the iconic grunge vocalist. His death deeply affected both musicians: The Pretty Reckless were the opening act at Soundgarden's final show with Cornell before the singer's suicide, circumstances that appear to have forged a lasting bond.

In January 2019, Momsen sang onstage with the surviving members of Soundgarden at the "I Am the Highway: A Tribute to Chris Cornell" benefit show. The connection continues with TPR's new album, rumored to be titled Death by Rock and Roll, which Momsen recorded with Cameron in Seattle. "Wait til you hear this," she captioned a photo of the two together, fists raised. Last week, the band dropped the raucous title track off the LP, which you can stream here. For his part, Cameron has been busy: Pearl Jam released a new album, Gigatron, earlier this year, and he's prepping his sophomore solo full-length, which was made with assistance from the Melvins' Buzz Osborne and Dale Crover, Foo Fighters' Taylor Hawkins, and producer Toshi Kasai.
